NEW DELHI, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Eight schools and a college in the Indian capital territory, Delhi, and the Golden Temple in Amritsar in Punjab state were rattled by hoax bomb calls in the past three days, officials said Wednesday.

Although the bomb threats sent over email prompted authorities to take emergency response, no bombs or explosives were found during the checks.

On Wednesday morning, a bomb threat received through email triggered panic in five private schools in Delhi, forcing authorities to immediately evacuate the premises for a thorough security check.

However, the police said nothing suspicious was found during the checks, and the threats proved to be hoaxes.

On Tuesday, St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, also received a threatening email, warning of four IED bombs and two RDX devices planted across the campus, including the library. However, the intense searching by police, bomb disposal teams and dog squads did not reveal anything.

Three schools in Delhi received similar threats on Monday.

Likewise, the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar city in the northern state of Punjab on Wednesday again received a bomb threat. Reports said this was the third threat received in three days.

The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the threats.
