SEOUL, July 16 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export volume grew for the fifth straight month due to solid demand for electronic products, central bank data showed Wednesday.

The export volume index rose 6.8 percent in June from a year earlier, continuing to expand since February, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

In terms of volume, outbound shipment for computers, electronic and optical devices mounted 10.4 percent in June on a yearly basis, keeping a double-digit growth for the fourth consecutive month.

Export volume for oil products and metal products swelled in double figures, and those for chemicals and transport equipment gained in single digits.

The export value index climbed 2.8 percent in June compared to the same month of last year, turning around from a decrease of 2.0 percent in May.

The import volume index jumped 11.2 percent in the cited month, and the import value index increased 2.9 percent.

The net terms-of-trade index for goods, or a ratio of export price to import price, was up 4.0 percent in June on a yearly basis on the back of a faster fall in import price than export price.
