KABUL, July 16 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an internal aid agency to support returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable families, the ministry announced in a statement late Tuesday.

According to the statement, the MoU is valued at over 2.2 million U.S. dollars and is set to benefit families across the country. Under the agreement, the partnering agency will provide cash assistance, legal advice, and support to children in 30 out of 34 provinces.

This development follows the ministry's signing of three MoUs last week with prominent aid organizations, aiming to support 285,529 individuals and 2,400 families in 28 provinces.

The Afghan interim government continues to urge local and international organizations to invest in humanitarian and development efforts to alleviate economic hardships and generate employment opportunities throughout the poverty-stricken country.
