4 explosive drones hit oil fields in northern Iraq, no casualties reported

BAGHDAD, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Four explosive-laden drones on Wednesday morning hit oil fields in Duhok province in northern Iraq's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan, local authorities reported.

According to statements from the regional Directorate General of Counter Terrorism, two drones struck an oil field operated by the Norwegian DNO oil company in the Faysh Khabur area, a third drone hit another DNO-operated oil field in the Tawke area, and a fourth one hit an oil field run by a U.S. oil company in the Baadre area. No casualties were reported.

The attacks occurred between 6:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) and 7:14 a.m. (0414 GMT) Wednesday. No group has yet claimed responsibility.

Iraq has witnessed an increasing number of drone attacks recently. On Tuesday morning, a drone hit the Sarsang oil field in Duhok province without causing casualties. On Monday, an explosive-laden drone was shot down near the Erbil International Airport, and two explosive-laden drones crashed at the Khurmala oil field in Erbil province.
