ISLAMABAD, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Two policemen were shot dead on Wednesday in a terrorist attack in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the police said.
Spokesperson of the Dera Ismail Khan police Yaqoob Khan said that a group of three terrorists opened fire at the police personnel on duty when they were heading to a market in the Kulachi district of KP.
Following the incident, the Counter Terrorism Department personnel chased the terrorists and killed one of them during a fire exchange while two others managed to flee.
"Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorist, while a search operation is ongoing to trace the remaining culprits," the spokesperson added. ■
