PHNOM PENH, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia made 208 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first half of 2025, down 2.3 percent from 213 million dollars over the same period last year, said an official report on Tuesday.

The report released by the General Directorate of Rubber showed that the kingdom exported 112,595 tons of the commodity during the January-June period this year, down 20 percent from 140,653 tons over the same period last year.

However, domestic consumption of rubber latex saw a significant rise of 92 percent to 53,361 tons in the first half of this year, earning a revenue from local sales of 93.5 million dollars.

"A ton of rubber latex costs 1,853 U.S. dollars on average during the first six months of 2025, about 335 dollars higher than that of the same period in 2024," Khun Kakada, acting director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.

The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China.

Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, of which the trees on 330,259 hectares, or 77.6 percent, are old enough to be tapped, the report said.
