VIENTIANE, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The Lao police in northern Bokeo province have seized a large shipment of drugs and arrested a suspect following a major bust involving a tanker truck traveling from Huayxay district in Bokeo province to Luang Namtha province.
According to the Lao Security News on Thursday, local authorities intercepted the truck on July 7. A search of the vehicle uncovered 1,920 bags containing 1,920 kg of ketamine, 1,998,000 methamphetamine pills weighing over 199 kg, 15 kg of ecstasy powder, and 51 kg of heroin.
The driver, a 26-year-old Lao farmer from Xieng Khuang province, was taken into custody.
The authorities are continuing investigations to identify and arrest additional suspects connected to the drug trafficking network. ■
