SYDNEY, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A man has been seriously injured in a late-night shooting in southeast suburbs in Melbourne, the capital city of Australia's state of Victoria.
Emergency services were called to reports of a man being found with gunshot wounds in Hampton, about 13 km southeast of central Melbourne, shortly before midnight local time on Tuesday.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A police statement on Wednesday said that it is believed that the gunshots were fired from a vehicle and that it was a targeted attack. ■
