BUDAPEST, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Hungary has officially reopened its embassy in Tehran, restoring its full diplomatic presence in Iran, according to a statement posted Tuesday by Levente Magyar, Hungary's state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The move follows a 20-day temporary relocation of the mission to Baku, Azerbaijan, due to heightened regional tensions in mid-June. Hungary's diplomatic staff, including consular officers, resumed operations at the Tehran site on July 8, citing improved security conditions.

Hungary had temporarily evacuated its diplomatic personnel and their families from Tehran on June 18 amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran. Embassy operations were suspended after Israeli airstrikes on Tehran and other cities triggered a swift retaliatory response from Iran, sharply raising security concerns.

According to Magyar, Hungary is among the first European nations to reestablish an on-site diplomatic presence in Iran following the recent conflict. The consular section of the reopened embassy is now fully operational.

Hungarian authorities continue to advise all citizens residing in or planning to travel to Iran to register for consular protection, follow official travel advisories, and maintain contact with the embassy as necessary.
