KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Analysts have foreseen Malaysia's palm oil production to recover this year as climatic conditions remain favorable.
BMI Country Risk and Industry Research said in a note that following an expected decline of 1.6 percent year-on-year in the 2024/25 season, it expects a partial recovery in Malaysian output in 2025/26, forecasting a 0.5 percent year-on-year increase, with total output seen at 19.5 million tons.
Nevertheless, the research house expects the country's domestic consumption to decline by 2 percent from 3.9 million tons in 2024/25 to 3.8 million tons in 2025/26, as industrial demand eases amid slow progress toward biofuel targets and tighter restrictions on the used cooking oil trade. ■
