SYDNEY, July 8 (Xinhua) -- A home has been shot at in northwest Sydney and a car set alight nearby in the third such incident in the last two weeks.

Police were called to reports of shots being fired at a house in the suburb of Kellyville, 30 kilometers northwest of central Sydney, in the Australian state of New South (NSW), shortly after 3am on Tuesday.

Officers attended the scene and established a crime scene after locating damage to the front windows of the home, NSW Police said in a statement.

Three occupants, a man and woman aged in their 30s and a two-year-old child, were home at the time of the shooting but were not injured.

A short time later, emergency services were called to a nearby car fire in Kellyville. The fire was extinguished but the vehicle was destroyed, NSW Police said.

Police were investigating whether the car was used as a getaway vehicle by the perpetrators of the shooting.

It came after shots were fired into homes in the neighboring suburb of North Kellyville and in Concord in Sydney's inner-west on June 25 and July 3, respectively.

Nobody was injured in either shooting.

In both cases, a suspected getaway car was set alight nearby shortly after the shooting.
