ULAN BATOR, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The 19th edition of Mongolia's national costume festival is held in Ulan Bator, capital of Mongolia, on Tuesday with the aim to promote the tourism sector and encourage the younger generation to wear traditional clothing.
Several thousand of people dressed in traditional costumes participated in the annual festival titled "Mongolians in Deel" in the central square of Ulan Bator, according to the capital city's Department of Tourism.
This year's festival was co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, the capital city's Department of Tourism and the Mongolian Tourism Organization and Mongol costumes center.
Deel is an item of traditional Mongolian clothing for centuries.
The one-day festival includes numerous activities such as a fashion parade, the best deel contest, a national clothing exhibition and a folk music concert and dance. ■
