PHNOM PENH, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Tuesday sent a group of four gymnasts to train in China in preparation for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, said a news release from the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).
Noy Phana, secretary general of the Cambodia Gymnastics Federation, said the all-male athletes will undergo long-term training at the Shantou Sports School in south China's Guangdong Province.
"The training in China aims at improving the athletes' personal abilities and technical levels, as they are preparing for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December 2025, and other international competitions in the future," he said.
Phana, who led the athletes for the training in China, said the group will get intensive training in China for nearly five months from July 8 to November 30.
Ten Vandeth, one of the gymnasts, said he was thrilled to be given a chance to get trained in China for the third time.
"I determine to train hard in order to further improve my ability and technical skills," he said. "I hope I will be able to gain medals for Cambodia in the upcoming 33rd SEA Games in Thailand."
According to the NOCC, it was the third time that the Cambodia Gymnastics Federation had dispatched gymnastics athletes to China for comprehensive training. ■
