BRATISLAVA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Slovak Health Minister Kamil Sasko and his Czech counterpart Vlastimil Valek signed a framework agreement Friday to enhance cross-border cooperation on emergency medical services, local media reported.

Under the agreement, signed in Prague, Czech Republic, paramedics from either country will be permitted to respond to emergencies across the border if they can reach the accident site faster, the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) said.

At a press conference following the signing, Valek said the agreement enables emergency medical teams to operate on both sides of the border without facing administrative barriers.

The framework agreement is valid for an indefinite period and will take effect after ratification by both countries. A joint Czech-Slovak commission will oversee its implementation.
