VIENTIANE, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The weather bureau of Laos has issued a warning to all communities and local authorities to remain vigilant and prepare for continuous rainfall from July 1 to 3, which may lead to landslides and flash floods.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, under the Lao Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, issued a notice on Tuesday warning of widespread light to moderate rain, with heavy rainfall expected in parts of the northern, central, and southern provinces.

The notice urges all communities and local authorities to remain vigilant and prepared, as continuous rainfall could trigger flash floods, river overflows, and landslides, posing serious risks to lives and property.

The river level in Vientiane province reached 3.46 meters on Tuesday, close to the warning level of 3.50 meters, with the danger level at 4.50 meters. Additionally, the river level in Bolikhamxay province reached 6.95 meters, nearing the 7-meter warning level, with the danger level set at 8 meters.

The weather bureau has urged residents in low-lying areas and along rivers to stay prepared for extreme weather conditions. Travelers passing through mountainous regions are advised to check weather updates, road conditions, and vehicle readiness before setting out. All citizens are encouraged to closely monitor official forecasts and warnings.
