SYDNEY, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Australian police have charged a teenager with the murder of a 58-year-old man in Brisbane.
Police in the Australian state of Queensland said on Friday that emergency services were called to reports of a man sustaining critical injuries at a home in Clayfield, in Brisbane's inner-north, around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the 58-year-old man deceased at the property as well as a large group of teenagers.
Police searched the area and found a 15-year-old boy, who was known to the man, nearby. He was arrested and taken to a local police station where he was charged with one count of murder as a domestic violence offense.
Queensland Police Service Inspector Jane Healy told reporters on Friday that a party was being held at the home at the time of the incident.
She said that police would not be able to establish a timeline of events until they can interview about 30 young people who were in attendance.
"It's still extremely early and the situation was quite chaotic, confusing and confronting when police arrived, so we are still establishing a timeline of what has happened," Healy said.
Investigations into the incident have been ongoing. ■
