TOKYO, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Japan's unemployment rate in May remained unchanged for the third consecutive month at 2.5 percent, government data showed Friday.
The number of employed individuals rose by 330,000, or 0.5 percent, to a seasonally adjusted 68.37 million, marking the first increase in four months, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said.
Meanwhile, individuals without jobs fell by 40,000, or 2.3 percent, to 1.72 million, down for the first time in three months, according to the ministry.
A government official said the drop in the number of unemployed people was small and had a limited impact on the overall jobless rate. ■
