BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism remains committed to Brunei Vision 2035, particularly through initiatives that support the blue economy, marine innovation, and environmental stewardship, a senior government official has said.

Notable examples include the deployment of 1000 artificial reef units to enhance marine habitats, and ongoing collaboration with regional bodies to strengthen sustainable fisheries and ocean science, Noralinda Ibrahim, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, said Tuesday at the Future Ocean Changemakers Youth Forum held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

Noralinda said Brunei is a maritime nation, with a coastline stretching over 160 km and more than 58% of the country's territories consisting of ocean space.

More than 200 youth participants representing all four districts of Brunei and delegates from Southeast Asian countries were present at the forum.

The two-day event on Tuesday and Wednesday under Ocean Week Brunei aims to inspire young people to pursue careers in marine sustainability. The forum, themed "Shaping Careers, Sustaining Oceans," is designed to expose participants to the growing range of opportunities within the ocean sector.
