HANOI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Torrential rains and flooding have left three people dead and four others injured in northern and northern central provinces of Vietnam over the past three days, the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority said Tuesday.
The flood damaged 815 houses, inundated more than 1,970 hectares of rice fields and other crops across the region, with over 3,900 livestock and nearly 170,000 poultry perished, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Torrential rains in recent days have caused serious landslides and floods in northern Vietnam's provinces, it added.
The local authorities have evacuated residents, rerouted traffic, and mobilized rescue forces to ensure public safety and maintain transportation access, according to the report. ■
