JAKARTA, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's resort island of Bali will soon build one of the most complete sports tourism centers in Southeast Asia, according to Youth and Sports Minister Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo on Tuesday.

The development has begun with the construction of an international-standard racket sports complex in the South Kuta sub-district of Badung Regency, Bali. The project is initiated and financed by the private sector.

The minister, commonly known as Dito Ariotedjo, made the statement after directly reviewing the construction site during his visit to the 2025 Asian Fencing Championship held in Bali.

According to the minister, the new complex is designed to be a world-class racket sports center, equipped to host tennis, padel, and pickleball matches. It will include stadiums and spectator stands designed to support global-level sporting events.

"You could say it's a super racket sports complex, and this will be Bali's attraction to the world. Because later it will be combined with hotels next to it," said Dito, quoted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He added that the sports complex is envisioned to expand further with the planned addition of a golf course, aiming to become one of Southeast Asia's most comprehensive sports tourism hubs.

Dito expressed appreciation for the private sector's involvement in developing the complex and hoped this kind of collaboration would serve as a model for future sports infrastructure in Indonesia to support national athletes and boost the country's ability to host international events.
