BERLIN, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said Friday that recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran have delayed Tehran's ability to develop nuclear weapons by at least two to three years.

Israeli forces had launched a large-scale operation against Iranian military infrastructure and nuclear facilities, killing several senior military commanders and nuclear scientists, Saar told German newspaper Bild in an interview conducted in Jerusalem and published on Saturday.

"I believe it is a success -- we have achieved many results," he said. "We will not stop until we have done everything possible to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat."

He called on Germany and other European countries to provide more political and military support for Israel.

Saar's remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday he would decide within two weeks whether to order the U.S. forces to directly attack Iran.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Türkiye's Anadolu news agency that Iran is "absolutely ready" to settle the dispute over its nuclear program through negotiations.
