BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will pay an official visit to China from Sunday to Thursday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Born in December 1972, Wong was elected as a member of parliament in Singapore in 2011 and has successively held the positions of minister of culture, community and youth; minister of national development; minister of education; and minister of finance.
In 2022, Wong assumed the office of deputy prime minister of Singapore, concurrently serving as minister of finance. He became prime minister in May 2024 while retaining his role as minister of finance, and began a second term in May 2025. ■
