KATHMANDU, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Nepal's foreign trade surged by 18.8 percent in the past 11 months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year amid a rise in both imports and exports, the Department of Customs said on Friday.

The total trade stood at 1.89 trillion Nepali rupees (13.64 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.59 trillion rupees year-on-year, the department said in a report.

The exports increased by 77.77 percent to 247.57 billion rupees, while the imports grew by 13.15 percent to 1,644.79 billion rupees.

As always, India and China have remained Nepal's largest trading partners, noted the department.

Nepal has been reporting rising external trade in 2024-25, which began in mid-July 2024. (1 rupee equals 0.0072 U.S. dollars)
