BANGKOK, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said on Tuesday that Thailand was fully prepared to evacuate its citizens from Israel as tensions escalated between Iran and Israel.
Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Paetongtarn said the Thai Air Force has aircraft on standby, while other relevant agencies have aligned their contingency measures to respond swiftly when required.
She said a labor assistance center has been established to serve as a central hub for information and registration among Thai nationals wishing to return home.
According to government data, around 40,000 Thai workers are currently in Israel. ■
