KABUL, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Afghan border police have apprehended 26 people on the charge of involvement in smuggling precious stones and forgery over the past two weeks, spokesman for the entity Abdullah Farooqi said.
"Over the past two weeks, 26 criminals who were involved in forgery and smuggling precious stones such as emerald and lapis lazuli have been arrested and dozens of kilograms of the valuable stones were recovered," the local media outlet Ariana News quoted Farooqi as saying.
The border police won't allow anyone to engage in illegal activities, the officer said. ■
