JAKARTA, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Woodball Federation (IWbA) is aiming to become the overall champion at the 2025 Asian Cup Woodball Championship, which will take place in Bogor Regency, West Java province, from August 18 to 25, an official said on Monday.
Aang Sunadji, Chairman of the IWbA Executive Board, said that Indonesian athletes expect to secure at least four gold medals out of the eight events in which they will compete.
"For us, the goal is clear-we must become the overall champion," Sunadji emphasized. "I have set a target of winning four gold medals from the eight events we will participate in."
Sunadji expressed confidence in the athletes' ability to meet this target, citing their proven track record at international competitions.
At the 2024 Woodball World Championship, Indonesia earned gold medals through both male and female events. The team previously achieved top honors by winning the world championship title in 2019.
According to Sunadji, 15 teams are expected to participate in the upcoming Asian Cup, each sending a delegation of 10 athletes.
The competition will include several event categories, such as stroke play, fairway, and team event. ■
