SYDNEY, June 16 (Xinhua) -- A pioneering livestream from a tree hollow in Australia has captured unprecedented footage of the endangered greater glider, offering new insights into the species' behavior and raising urgent conservation concerns.

Viewers from around the world have logged over 10,000 hours watching a family of greater gliders, witnessing rare parental care and social interactions previously undocumented in the species, according to a release from the World Wide Fund for Nature - Australia (WWF-Australia).

Greater gliders, large gliding marsupials found in eastern Australia, have suffered a population decline of up to 80 percent, largely due to native forest logging, the release said.
