YANGON, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's government ministries, universities, and various government institutions are organizing monsoon tree planting events as part of a nationwide campaign for 2025, the state-owned newspaper The Mirror reported on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development held a tree planting ceremony at its office compound in Nay Pyi Taw. The event was attended by Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe and other senior officials, the report said.

The union minister also participated in similar tree planting activities held on Saturday at various departments under the ministry. The ministry planted a total of 853 trees, the report said.

Elsewhere, Dawei University hosted a tree planting event on its campus on Saturday, with participation from Tanintharyi Region's Minister for Natural Resources U Khin Maung Myint, university officials, and students. The event aimed to raise public awareness of forest conservation and to promote a green environment.

In Shan State, a tree planting ceremony was also held in Taunggyi on Saturday, attended by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, the report said.
