LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Four Council members were elected Wednesday by the 49th General Assembly of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), during a session led for the first time by Ingmar De Vos since taking office in January.

Nenad Lalovic, president of United World Wrestling; Jean-Christophe Rolland, president of World Rowing; and Andreas Zagklis, secretary general of the International Basketball Federation, were elected to four-year terms. Ximena Restrepo, senior vice president of World Athletics, was elected to a two-year term.

Lalovic was re-elected for a second term, while Rolland and Zagklis replace Ugur Erdener (World Archery) and Sebastian Coe (World Athletics), who have concluded their final terms. Restrepo fills the vacant seat left by De Vos and will serve the remainder of his unexpired term from 2025 to 2027.

"This was a special General Assembly for me as it was my first as ASOIF president," said De Vos. "ASOIF looks forward to continuing the excellent collaboration between the IOC and the International Federations under Kirsty Coventry. The Summer Olympic International Federations stand ready to play their important role in the Olympic Movement and add value through their expertise whenever possible."

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and IOC President-elect Kirsty Coventry, who will take office on June 23, 2025, addressed ASOIF's member federations earlier in the day.

The General Assembly also discussed a new strategic plan intended to reflect the key priorities and needs of its members. The plan is expected to be validated by the Council later this year.

World Boxing was admitted as an associate member of ASOIF. In February 2025, the IOC Executive Board granted provisional recognition to World Boxing as the international federation governing the sport at the global level within the Olympic Movement.

ASOIF announced that the distribution of Olympic revenue from the 2024 Paris Games has been completed by the IOC. While the breakdown by federation has not yet been disclosed, the total distribution amounts to 590.1 million U.S. dollars - a 9.22 percent increase from the 540.3 million allocated after the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The current Olympic revenue distribution model is set for review, particularly in light of the inclusion of three new international federations - Sport Climbing, Surfing and Skateboarding - which will be part of the revenue-sharing scheme for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
