JAKARTA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- The month-long 2025 Jakarta Great Sale Festival opened in the Indonesian capital on Tuesday with a target of increasing retail sales to 15.5 trillion rupiah (around 952 million U.S. dollars) from 14 trillion rupiah (around 860 million dollars) last year.
"The Jakarta Great Sale Festival consistently provides a real boost to the capital's economy," said Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, director of the Jakarta Province's Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Agency, on Tuesday.
The event, which runs from June 10 to July 10 and involves 100 malls and shopping centers, is expected to make great contribution to the trade sector, the main driver of Jakarta's economic growth.
This year, the festival collaborates with seven major shopping centers, including Grand Indonesia, Mall Taman Anggrek, and Lippo Mall Nusantara, to showcase more than 200 Indonesian culinary Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.
As part of the celebration of Jakarta's 498th anniversary, the festival offers discounts of up to 70 percent and features midnight sales, shopping raffles, blood donations, and free health checks. ■
