COLOMBO, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan police announced Tuesday that they seized more than 110 kg of heroin in Weeraketiya in southern Sri Lanka a day earlier.
Police spokesperson Buddhika Manatunga said officers discovered 110.4 kilograms of heroin hidden inside a partially constructed house on a cinnamon plantation.
He added that over 100 kilograms of heroin had also been found in the same area in late May.
Authorities have seized large quantities of illegal drugs in recent months as part of the Sri Lankan government's ongoing efforts to crack down on drug trafficking. ■
