ASTANA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Dauren Kosanov as the new minister of defence following the dismissal of his predecessor Ruslan Zhaksylykov, the country's Kazinform news agency reported on Sunday.
Kosanov previously served as deputy minister of defense and commander-in-chief of the Air Defense Forces of the Kazakh Armed Forces.
The president also dismissed Marat Karabayev from his position as transport minister.
No official announcement has been made on who will replace Karabayev so far. ■
