KABUL, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police have seized 105 kg of crystal meth, ICE (methamphetamine), heroin, and other narcotics in western Afghanistan's Herat province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday.
The contraband included 48 kg of methamphetamine, 35 kg of crystal meth, 15 kg of heroin, and some other types of narcotics. The drugs were discovered during a series of routine police operations on the outskirts of Kohsan district of the province, said the statement.
One individual was arrested in connection with the case and his dossier will be referred to the judiciary for further investigation.
In a related case, police uncovered and destroyed 666 kg of illicit drugs, including ICE and heroin, in eastern Khost province on Tuesday as part of their ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking.
The Afghan interim government has committed to combating illegal drugs, as well as the production and trafficking of narcotics throughout the war-stricken country. ■
