ZAGREB, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Croatia's annual inflation rate stood at 3.5 percent in May, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Eurostat data, Croatia recorded one of the highest inflation rates among Eurozone members last month.
In May, service costs rose by 6.2 percent year-on-year, while prices for food, beverages, and tobacco increased by 5.1 percent. Energy prices were up 1.7 percent, the CBS reported.
This marks a break in the recent trend of declining annual inflation, which had fallen from 4 percent in January to 3.7 percent in February, and then to 3.2 percent in both March and April, CBS noted.
By comparison, annual consumer price growth in the Eurozone slowed to 1.9 percent in May, down from 2.2 percent in April. Among Eurozone countries, only Estonia recorded a higher annual rate than Croatia, at 4.6 percent, while Slovakia matched Croatia at 3.5 percent, according to Eurostat. ■
