YANGON, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Department of Small Scale Industries under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development has planned to implement a micro industry project in 198 villages across the country during the 2025-26 fiscal year, state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television reported on Monday.

The initiative aims to help local residents start micro businesses and improve family incomes by providing training, materials, and equipment, the report said.

The department will use over 2.47 billion kyats (approximately 1.17 million U.S. dollars) for the project, the report said.

Under the project, the department was offering courses in soap making, sewing, consumer product production, motorcycle repair, in-home electrical wiring, home electronics repair, and diesel engine repair, the report said.

In addition to the training, the department was also providing the necessary tools and materials to support the start of these micro businesses, the report said.

Similar projects were implemented in 155 villages during the 2023-24 fiscal year and in 221 villages in the 2024-25 fiscal year, the report added.
