ISLAMABAD, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's headline inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 3.5 percent on a year-on-year basis in May, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Monday.
On a month-on-month basis, CPI inflation decreased by 0.2 percent in May, compared to a decline of 0.8 percent in April and a drop of 3.2 percent in May 2024, according to official data.
Inflation in Pakistan has shown a downward trend since peaking at a record high of 38 percent in May 2023.
The statistics showed that urban inflation in May edged up 3.5 percent and 0.1 percent on a month-on-month basis, respectively. ■
