BISHKEK, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A meeting of the Defense Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states was held here Wednesday, said the press service of the Kyrgyz defense ministry.

Chaired by Kyrgyz Defense Minister Ruslan Mukambetov, the meeting was attended by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, heads and representatives from the defense ministries of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the CSTO Secretariat and the Joint Staff.

The participants of the meeting considered key security issues, including the activities of the organization's collective forces, which will address current challenges and threats to the CSTO military security, and the improvement of the combat training and proficiency of the bloc's troops, said the press service.

In addition, the parties approved a plan of military cooperation among the CSTO states for 2026-2030.

The CSTO is made up of six member states -- Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
