ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa met on Saturday in Istanbul to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, the Turkish presidential office said.
The closed-door meeting lasted for an hour and a half, according to a statement by the office. (Türkiye-Syria-Visit)

GAZA/JERUSALEM -- At least 32 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on multiple areas of the Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to Gaza's Civil Defense.

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Saturday unveiled the Regional Initiative to Protect the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, a strategic move aimed at preserving the flow and sustainability of the two historic waterways.
The initiative was announced during the Fifth Baghdad International Water Conference, currently held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad under the theme "Water and Technology: A Partnership for Development." with the participation of international companies and institutions concerned with water issues, according to a statement issued by al-Sudani's media office. ADEN, Yemen -- U.S. drone strikes overnight targeted a suspected al-Qaeda hideout in Yemen's southern province of Abyan, killing at least six people, a Yemeni military official told Xinhua on Saturday.
The strikes hit the mountainous Marakisha area in eastern Abyan late Friday, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. All those killed were believed to be members of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Yemen-based branch of the militant network. (Yemen-US-Drone Attacks) ■
