VIENTIANE, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Health, in collaboration with development partners, has introduced a new set of vaccination education tools to enhance vaccine understanding among low-literacy populations and diverse ethnic communities.
According to the ministry's report on Wednesday, the new toolkit includes animated videos and infographic flashcards. The contents cover essential topics such as how vaccines work, what to expect after vaccination, and details on major vaccine-preventable diseases.
To maximize accessibility, provincial and district health teams are continuing to translate the content into additional local languages, with ongoing support to adapt them for minority communities.
The initiative is expected to play a vital role in empowering frontline health workers and local leaders by providing clear, visual explanations that are easy to understand. Designed for use on mobile phones and in print, the materials are suitable for both home visits and health center settings.
The materials also help parents track their child's immunization schedule, contributing to improved vaccine timeliness. With these new tools, the government and its partners aim to strengthen public understanding, acceptance, and uptake of vaccines nationwide. ■
