SINGAPORE, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday issued a warning about the dangers of working at height, after uncovering more than 1,330 safety violations during inspections conducted between February and April.
The ministry inspected approximately 550 worksites across the construction, marine, and manufacturing sectors, with a specific focus on height-related safety measures. As a result, 13 Stop Work Orders were issued.
Falls from height continue to be one of the leading causes of serious and fatal workplace injuries, the ministry said. In 2024 alone, four workers have died and 74 others sustained major injuries from such incidents.
The ministry emphasized the importance of constant vigilance among employers, contractors, supervisors, and workers, noting that workers can report unsafe practices. ■
