VIENTIANE, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Health authorities in northern Laos' Xayaboury province have issued an urgent warning about poisonous wild mushrooms after seven deaths were reported, urging the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid further fatalities.
A warning issued by the provincial health office on May 16 revealed that poisonous mushrooms have killed seven people and sickened 32 others in the province, Lao News Agency reported on Tuesday.
Local authorities have been instructed to work closely with health workers to monitor and report mushroom poisoning cases promptly. They are also encouraged to lead public education campaigns to raise awareness about the risks of consuming wild mushrooms. ■
