PRAGUE, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The 30th edition of Book World Prague, an international book fair, opened here on Thursday with the participation of five Chinese publishing houses.
According to the China Education Publishing and Media Group, the Chinese booth, themed "Reading China," features over 600 selected books, which systematically present China's development ideas and achievements.
The Chinese booth concentrates on three key themes. The first theme is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory. Through the presented literature and video materials, people could better understand the preciousness of peace.
The second theme focuses on original Chinese science fiction works. With representative works such as "The Three-Body Problem," these works showcase cutting-edge thinking on the integration of technology and humanity.
The third theme focuses on a joint exhibition of children's picture books from China and the Czech Republic, and features over 30 carefully selected picture books published in recent years.
During the four-day fair, Chinese publishers are not only promoting books but also enhancing cultural exchanges through a series of events. On Thursday, a dialogue between Chinese and Czech writers was held, where writers of both countries shared their insights and experiences in literary creation.
Book World Prague is regarded as one of the largest and most influential international book fairs in Central and Eastern Europe. According to its official website, this year's fair has attracted exhibitors from nearly 40 countries and regions around the world. ■
