BAGHDAD, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian issue will remain a central focus in the upcoming 34th Arab League Summit slated for Saturday in Baghdad, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on Thursday.

Hussein made the remarks during a preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

He described the summit as taking place at a critical moment in the history of Arab nations, calling for unified efforts and strengthened collective action to address shared challenges.

Hussein emphasized the need to allow the Palestinian people's access to humanitarian aid and to reactivate the work of international relief organizations, the statement added.

He also addressed issues concerning Syria, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia, and proposed the formation of a high-level Arab ministerial committee to bring views closer and end differences between Arab countries. He also highlighted dialogue as the best way to preserve regional security and stability, according to the statement.

The upcoming summit marks the second such event hosted by Iraq since the 2003 U.S. invasion. Iraq previously hosted an Arab League summit in 2012.
