PHNOM PENH, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's tallest bridge, built by a Chinese company in western Cambodia's Pursat province, has been opened to traffic, an official said Friday.
The Bridge No. 28 along National Road No. 10 has been permanently opened to the public from Thursday, Phan Rim, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, told Xinhua.
"The construction work on the bridge has been 100 percent completed," he said. "The bridge is expected to provide tremendous economic benefits as it reduces both travel time and transportation costs."
Rim said people can travel across a bridge or pause on the bridge's side to take photos or to enjoy the surrounding stunning scenery, particularly a tall bridge with a forest backdrop.
The 80-meter-tall bridge, which has a total length of 530 meters and a width of 10 meters, was constructed across the Russey Chrum river valley in Chhay Luk village in Veal Veng district's Osom commune. ■
