MANILA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Personal remittances from overseas Filipinos reached 3.13 billion U.S. dollars in March, an increase of 2.6 percent from a year earlier, the Philippine central bank said Thursday.
From January to March 2025, cumulative personal remittances totaled 9.40 billion dollars, up 2.7 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the bank, the increase during the first quarter was largely driven by higher cash inflows from the United States, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
With an estimated 10 million Filipinos living or working abroad, personal remittances remain a vital source of foreign exchange for the Philippines.
According to the Asian Development Bank, the Philippines is among top 10 recipients of remittances globally. ■
