MADRID, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa looks set to leave the club this summer after 11 years in which he has made over 460 appearances and scored 87 goals.
The 30-year-old gave an interview on YouTube in which he denied he had an agreement with anyone else but dropped a big hint that he was on the way out.
"I've already discussed what I want with Cholo (coach Diego Simeone) and the club and they respect my viewpoint," said Correa, who stressed his loyalty to the club he joined in 2014 and who stood by him after he was diagnosed with a potentially career-ending heart problem.
"I've always given everything to help the team. I've always put the team before myself. They know and understand me; they've given me the freedom to decide what I want for my future," commented the forward, who insisted he would not be going before the Club World Cup which kicks off in June.
"I told them I want to finish these remaining matches, enjoy them, help the team, and hopefully we can win the World Cup. And then we'll see," he said, explaining that, "players don't usually spend so much time on the same team, but I've always felt loved here; it feels like home to me."
Correa denied reports he has an agreement with Mexican side, Tigres, but his words do sound like a "goodbye".
"I've been talking a lot about it with my wife and my daughters. I'm trying to enjoy these remaining matches, so I can go to the Club World Cup with my batteries charged. And when that's over, I'll see what my future holds," he concluded. ■
