SYDNEY, May 14 (Xinhua) -- A child has died and three more people have been injured in a collision between two vehicles south of Sydney, Australia.

Police of Australia's state of New South Wales (NSW) said in a statement on Tuesday night that emergency services were called to reports of a collision between a dual-cab utility vehicle and truck near the small town of Nullica, over 350 km south of Sydney in the South Coast region of NSW, on Tuesday afternoon.

A six-year-old boy, who had been traveling in the utility, died at the scene.

The driver of the utility, a man in his 30s, and a three-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the same vehicle, suffered multiple injuries and were airlifted to the hospital from a nearby airport, said the police.

A third passenger in the utility, an eight-year-old girl, was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 50s, was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing and to be treated for the effects of shock.

Officers from the crash investigation unit were deployed to examine the collision scene.
