JAKARTA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Retail sales in Indonesia were forecast to decline in April on a month-on-month basis, mainly due to the normalization of public demand following the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

According to a survey by Bank Indonesia released on Wednesday, sales in several categories, including information and communication equipment, household equipment, as well as food, beverages, and tobacco, were expected to fall.

In contrast, continued growth was projected in areas such as spare parts and accessories, motor vehicle fuel, and clothing.

Inflationary pressures over the next three and six months are expected to ease, as reflected in the General Price Expectation Index, which declined to 146.4 for June and 153.1 for September, from 148.3 and 155.5, respectively, in the previous period.
