RIGA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Latvia on Monday hosted the second Latvia and African Countries Partnership forum in Riga, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and supporting Latvia's campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
Latvian foreign minister and his Ugandan counterpart co-chaired the opening session of the forum, which serves as a platform for political and economic dialogue between Latvia and African nations, according to a statement from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event included three panel discussions on cooperation in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, digital transformation in healthcare, and women's empowerment through digitalization.
The forum was part of Latvia's public diplomacy program linked to its United Nations Security Council candidacy. Latvia is seeking election to the council for the first time. ■
