BEIRUT, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with Kuwait's Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah at Kuwait's Bayan Palace on Monday, during which the latter reaffirmed Kuwait's readiness to support Lebanon.
Lebanon holds a special place in the hearts of all Kuwaitis, and the two countries have embraced robust bilateral security cooperation, particularly in combating drug trafficking, which has led to the thwarting of multiple smuggling attempts, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf was quoted as saying by a statement released Tuesday by the Lebanese Presidency.
Reaffirming Kuwait's support to Lebanon, Sheikh Fahad condemned the ongoing Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty, read the statement.
Sheikh Fahad Yusuf also expressed his desire to visit Lebanon, which Aoun warmly welcomed.
For his part, Aoun thanked Kuwait for its continuous support for Lebanon, highlighted the deep-rooted and historic ties between the two countries, and confirmed Lebanon's full cooperation with Kuwait, particularly in security, read the statement.
Both sides agreed to facilitate mutual travel and enhance bilateral cooperation, read the statement. ■
